This page is updated frequently, so keep checking back to know allll about my WIPs! Every single one of these very bad mock covers was created by me.
jeweled night | fantasy | why can’t Cinderella NOT be white for once? | status: plotting
Why is Cinderella always white? That’s the question that drove my inspiration for Jeweled Night. In this fantasy world, discrimination exists — just like it does in America and all around the world, no matter how much people try to deny it. Jeweled Night is most definitely my pet project right now, and I’m planning to draft it for Camp NaNoWriMo (April 2017) and rewrite it in the July 2017 Camp NaNoWriMo. It’s the first novel in a trilogy. AHH I LOVE IT SO MUCH. *protectively covers Jeweled Night in lembas* There is no mock cover for JN at the moment, but check back in a few weeks and I might have gotten around to it. Since my concept for the cover is so complex, however, chances are I won’t create a mock cover at all.
verdict | mystery, science fiction, dystopian | OH THE SUSPENSE | status: plotting
Life or death? That’s the question that haunts Verdict, a novel with a mysterious storyline and characters even more so. Fifteen-year-old Leyla has just heard her own court sentence, and the reader follows her back and forth between the present and her own past, leading up to the critical moment when we finally hear the words that will determine Leyla’s future.
This was super blurb-like, but basically, the story works backwards and keeps the reader in suspense until late in the story. I know it sounds confusing, but it’s to keep the story compelling and make the reader want to keep — well, reading!
grid | mystery, science fiction, dystopian | I LITERALLY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT IT but I created a mock cover anyway | status: structuring/basic plotting
I honestly know nothing about the plot of my own project, which may or may not be a bad thing. XD I’m trying to figure out if Grid is a stand-alone, a book from a separate series, or a sequel to Verdict. And by the way, the “classified files” is supposed to be there — it’s supposed to give a certain atmosphere to the cover. I do know that it’s going to involve government censorship/knowledge control and that my MC and narrator is going to be an East Asian male, age 16. His name is Vryce, and he’s a persevering, caring kid who’s very protective of his younger sister. And that’s pretty much all I’ve figured out about him as of right now.
minutes in the night | historical fiction | civil rights movement | status: very rough draft
It’s a crazy story that I’ve set aside for a while. Said story involves lots of historical civil rights stuff. For those of you who read some of my earliest posts (now deleted), this is the draft I started with Camp NaNoWriMo (April 2016). It was fun drafting, but it needs so much editing. My writing style was swiveling from left to right through the entire draft and the story was very choppy — not something I’d enjoy reading myself. I’ve shelved it for now and am planning to tackle it once more after a little while.
